Thailand is called the Land of Smiles for a reason! I like the people there for their warmth, gentleness and tolerance. (South) Koreans are polite, but I find them much more brusque in general demeanor.
Things are definitely cheaper in Thailand. Food-wise, I'd say it's a tie - I love both cuisines!

Thailand wins hands down! More people speak English there...much more open minded, interesting, affordable, loads of other tourists/backpackers to talk to and Thais are just great! In terms of variety I'd choose Thailand.
