Mcdonalds Pancakes

I worked at McDonalds when breakfast first started and the hotcakes were cooked on a grill not frozen and microwaved. They have always been called hotcakes so it has nothing to do with microwaving.

Fluffy Pancakes INGREDIENTS 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 egg 3/4 cup milk 1/4 cup shortening, melted DIRECTIONS In a small bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Combine the egg, milk and shortening; stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Pour batter by 1/4 cupful onto a greased hot griddle. Turn when bubbles form on top of pancakes; cook until the second side is golden brown.

I work at McDonald's the hot cakes are only microwaved they originally come frozen, so I'm guessing that's why they're called hot cakes. If they were called pan cakes it'd be kind of false advertisement. Not made in a pan 😔 More like heated in the oven

Okay, I'm going to be a little original here - and this is just theory, because I don't KNOW for sure. But have you ever taken a good whiff of a McDonald's Hotcake? Smells like Yellow Cake mix. My theory is that they use "Cake" mix to make their pancakes, so they call them something different - okay, I know the word "cake" is in "pancake" as well - but it's just a theory! :)

2 B different. It is an old way of saying pancakes. Hotcakes used to sell fast. Have you heard the saying, "sells like hotcakes"?
