Most midwives are nurse prationers and can deliver the baby if no complications arrive. if they do the doctor is called and the woman is taken to the hospital this is usually offered to low risk paitients who have had no previous complications. you can still go the regular route if you want as your doctor has to give consent and clearance for the other way.
