they can have them the minute they arrive in the shops? Like the PS3 for example, and people fighting and getting shot?? Can't people wait a few days or a week? Life is more than gaming and clothes and food......
Are people's priorities so skewed?? Joe

I've noticed this too...there was a case where I live in which so many people rushed to be "first" to get a bargain that the floor of the shop collapsed and many were hurt. This is just crazy! The only thing I can think of, they must be totally hypnotized by advertising that tells people they "have" to have the newest, most expensive whatever-it-is and have it *first*. It's a sad commentary on the human condition, especially when you think that over half the world's population doesn't have clean water, a decent place to live, or enough to eat!
Love people, use things...not the other way around.

companies sorta do this on purpose, they build demand and restrict supply

its like teh one toy each xmas that gets on all the shows will be deliberately under produced and hard to order, there isnt really a 'shortage' just an under supply which raises the price

then after xmas anybody that bought lots or didnt 'really' really want it will not get anywhere near the price

i think its very cynical the way they put the price up at xmas for evryhting just bcos they know you are going to buy a xmas present??

there is also very little choice these days, so its case of there is nothing we can do about it - you choose between sony ps3, xbox and nintendo wii and define yourself by this choice in some way??

I asked exactly the same question when I saw that queue for Play Station 3 on news and I suppose there are people who can't wait to play on it (which looks very silly to me) but one person explained that he will buy it for 1000 dollars and resell for 1200, so some people have profit in mind, which makes a little bit more sense (although I don't justify it).

Because people nowadays tend to be so arogant and materialistic. They really dont know what are the things that they should get priority first in their life. And people nowadays are more impulsive and aggressive.Truly this attitudes shows that Bible's prophecies that in the last days people are more dangerous and have no love for his fellowmen is now seeing. Thus we should be very careful and give time for God because after this signs, His Judgement Day will come, and he will take action to perish this kind of people, people who's not prioritizing God but overlooking Him and just doing dumb things in their lives.

Quite! Apart from that, the price soon drops once the initial rush is over and the shops find they've over ordered! It's the same at Christmas isn't it - last year I bought three sets of Christmas lights in February for exactly one quarter of the price they were two weeks before Christmas - and the laugh is that I only wanted them for the l.e.d.'s, and they worked out cheaper than buying them AS l.e.d.'s in the first place !

Only here in America. So many people are so materialistic. They buy their kid a ps2 or tickle me elmo waaaay over store value and wonder why they are such spoiled brats. You know how many people will buy a ps2 off of ebay or craigslist for $1,500? That's just nuts. But I know......you have to make your kids happy.

Yes it's utterly ridiculous. These idiots just like to be able to say that they got them on the first day. Sad really.
