... and can get one over on homophobic straight guys with their quick comebacks and wisecracks? Do these gay comedians fit the heterosexual stereotype of being gay? Are any one of them just assumed to be gay by their mannerisms and personality? I hope some of them don't identify with the portrayal of trying to appear and behave like the opposite gender.

A lot of them do, indeed, fit those stereotypes, but they're just being who they are- take a look at comedian Ant, who is funny but as stereotypically queer as a three dollar bill.

There is of course the famous Ellen, who is always funny, but I personally haven't heard her do any stand-up on the actual issue of homosexuality.

There once was a guy featured on Comedy Central Presents- a very big white bald guy who was entirely hilarious and highly "straight-acting", I guess you'd say, and halfway through the show revealed he was gay and joked around about how hard it was to get a date when he looked like a scary basher, and other similar stuff. He was fantastic, and for the life of me, I can't find him again online (and believe me, I've been searching).

I feel Ellen Degenerous is very clever, witty and funny! Her Cd's and video's are very good. There is also a guy who appears regularly on Jay Leno who I find very funny. (I have no knowledge whether he's actually gay or not, but his flamboyant way seems to be very strong evidence that he is.) One of his funniest lines was "I think God is punishing me for being an atheist!"
