Well, The pig is well in Mass today. Bostons BIG DIG (tunnel under the water) is in the news again. It is some times called " Kennedys Folly" because most of the federal money was got by him. The origonial price was $4.5 billion but the final was $14.5 & 21/2 years late.Even after it was completed it leaked. Water was coming out the walls because when the panels were removed they found crushed rock not cement(that the goverment paid for). A women was killed when a ceiling panel fell on her car because there were not enough bolts holding it & those that were were to short. Is this where we want our money to go ? where was the oversite by both state & federal goverments? Is this the tax money of hard working people or theirs?

NO My gripe is we should watch where the 4.5 billion went & finish on time not 10 billion over budget & 21/2 years late. At lease you should be able to go through the tunnel with out geting a shower while doing it.

Government pork is a fact of today's politics. Best argument I have ever heard for term limits for ALL elected officials. Of course their argument is that it takes several years to become an effective legislature and experience is needed. Sounds reasonable, but the truth be told, it takes years to become effective and gain experience at taking the back door monies. The lobbyist hit the senior members, they are the ones to get the bills past that will benefit their program. With term limits, there will not be any real senior members and the congressmen will be more likely to respond to their constituents than to lobbyist. It is not a flawless plan, but one added benefit for us. Making our elected reps go back and live under the laws they passed might help also.

Yeah, in addition to term limits, there should be a ban on holding public holding public office for 10 years after leaving office. Then only people who want to get elected to make a difference will run for office. Make it harder to become a "professional" politician.
