Some "bad cluster" may be caused by virus, so you can re-format the harddisk from bios or CD windows setup. Before re-format, delete first the partition then create new partition.

If after re-format, the "bad cluster" still appear, please record the cluster position (in front or end), then u can localize by create multi partition using "Partition Magic Software" (create 2 or 3 drive), then using checkdisk or norton utilities, u can scan each drive and find which one give "bad cluster". Then u can reduce the size of partition and make "un-allocated"

BACK UP YOUR DATA 10 MINUTES AGO! Do NOT pass go, do not install new software... BACK IT UP!

remember the following:
1. you do not have to back up the software programs (Word, Excel, etc. as you should have the installation CD's)
2. you SHOULD backup the actual word/excel documents (things you have created and saved). You can usually find these in the My Documents folder.
3. Prioritze the evacuation! Do not go saving those mp3's while important work documents still need to be backed up. Backup things that you can not get back if they are lost.
4. If you do not have a CD/DVD burner, ask your friends if they have an external hard drive (NOT a thumb drive). if they dont, try calling a computer tech from the yellow pages. Any competent tech will be equipped with AT LEAST an 8GB external hard drive.

Norton Disk Dioctor is a good solution for fixing HDD errors. Otherwise you have to format your harddisk completely so that the cluster gets excluded.

But that too will not be a permnanant solution.
