hi there! i am currently at university and studying media and cultural studies so i can define the following for you:
low culture and popular culture are both considered low brow and looked down upon as being inferior. popular culture is things such as popular music, tv, film; mass culture is something on the lines of advertising, to do with public consumption and the term mass refers to people in general and high culture is things such as paintings, art, museums, history, philosophy, it is also associated and linked with wealth and being rich.
if you want to learn more about culture, then i'd reccomend that you read the work on cultural theorists pierre boudieu, theodor adorno and antonio gramsci. do a search on the web and there should plenty of material for you go through. afterwards, you'll be fascinated by what they've said and written on their take of culture itself.

Very broadly, the 17th century philosophers consist of people advocating rationalist and empiricist understandings of the world. The new foundations of philosophy are being grounded on human reason and empirical investigation instead of church authority and dogmatism. Interest in science grows as time progresses. Ultimately, the project of the 17th century finds it's greatest synthesis and also critique in the 18th century's Immanuel Kant.
