I am having a D&C soon and i know they do testing. My insurance will cover it all. I know this is awful, but they say my baby died around 8weeks, and around then I tried cocaine for the first time. Other than smoking weed a couple times this is the only hard core drug ive done, and ive only done it once. I dont do any drugs or even drink now, and im definately staying clean, because im afraid i killed my baby. ='o(
i am just wondering if when they do pathology test, if they can tell that i used cocaine? i smoked weed in the beginning of the pregnancy, but that was before i knew i was pregnant. i hear that using cocaine is the top leading cause for having a miscarriage, but all my friends say that doing it once wouldnt have killed it. but i still feel like i did. im only 18 and i just dont want my mom to find out that i use to use. i know i deserve to be punished..but feeling like i killed my child has been hell enough.i know thats not good enuf. i just want2know if they can trace it.

whats the matter with you why would you take cocaine knowing you are pregnant i dont even like people smoking around me! if you carry on doing drugs you dont deserve to have a baby yet!
you need to grow up a bit first!

Cocaine stays in your body for over a month, but I don't know about the fetus. Also, I don't know if they would drug test the fetus, or just do genetic stuff (or, in your case, if they'll do testing at all).
I honestly don't know why you would do coke when you knew you were pregnant, but I'm sure you'll never do it again. I had a sort of similar experience where my boyfriend and I went on a weekend vacation where we split a gram of coke and drank heavily for two days straight, not knowing I was a week or two pregnant. When I found out I was I was obviously concerned that I had made a terrible mistake without knowing, but it wasn't until I was almost 5 months pregnant that my fears were confirmed at the ultrasound, and my baby had a serious, fatal birth defect. I've talked to doctors and counselors about the guilt I felt and they all said there is no way to link my poorly-decided weekend to the birth defect...but of course, I still think "what if it did?"
That was a few years ago, and he and I have been sober since then and are expecting a healthy child in March.
My advice to you would be to get on birth control until your partying days are over, get a counselor to talk to (but try to talk to your parents as well - they are your parents and they love you), and don't stress out about the fetal testing - they can't punish you or anything.
I don't think you should spend too much time punishing yourself, because the best thing to do is to move forward, but please don't let this experience pass without using it as a serious learning tool. Your future is for you to decide - use your past mistakes to influence good decisions in the future. Better yourself - you'll be happy you did.

Well Cocaine only stays in your body for 2-3 days. WTF are you doing Cocaine for?!!?!?!!! I very seriously doubt that it was the reason for the miscarriage though, if you only did it once. I know how guilty you must feel. You will feel better when you find out the reason for your miscarriage. Some times when you have a miscarriage its for a good reason, maybe all the cells did not form properly or there was something wrong with the fetus and your body got rid of it because of that. If you plan on getting pregant in the future STAY OFF DRUGS! Take plenty of Folic Acid too, but not untill after you had your D&C which by the way is very painful, they will scrap out all the tissuse. Good Luck in the future and STAY OFF DRUGS!

hard core drug addicts give birth every day if u r telling the truth then i don't think there would be enough from one use to trace from a foetus but use birth control from now on i don't think that any person at 18 is truly ready for a baby especially if u r still experimenting with drugs don't feel to bad i believe that it would be highly unlikely to have killed a foetus with one use of cocaine but if you are aware of being pregnant you should do your best to avoid any harmful substances i am also very sorry for your loss

I believe that if it is there, they could find it. I think that you should think about getting on some type of birth control. I don't think you should take the chance of getting pregnant again. For the simple fact that you are only 18 and experimenting with illegal drugs. I don't think you are quite mature enough to take care of a child.

Sorry to say if there were traces of drugs in the baby they will find it. However I believe they can only share that information with you as you are an adult now,your mum shouldnt really know about it unless she has some sort of consent to see your medical files. I'm sorry for you loss.
