I just received a violation notice for referring to it as 'The Terrorist state of Israel.' Am I not within my rights to refer to it as such? In my opinion this is exactly what it is. Also does it offend you when I refer to it as 'The Terrorist state of Israel?' Surely it is neither an Epithet or Slur.

Whether its true or not is neither here nor there. I believe it is true, so am I not within my rights to say as such? Freedom of speech etc.

No it is not offensive and you should protest that violation. You are well within your rights to call Israel a terrorist state based on the actions of the country since its conception. I hope you do not just accept this violation. This is no way an epithet or a slur, you are merely stating your opinion. Unless for some reason the country of Israel itself, turned into a person capable of using Yahoo Answers and is now asking and answering questions, then maybe they could be offended. In reality it was probably just someone who was offended by it and was like ohh that is so wrong.

It is a slur and many will find it offensive. Whether or not it is true is a matter of discussion I guess. I don't agree with your position on Israel, but I would not report you for it any more than I report people who refer to Bush as a terrorist. I believe in freedom of speech and only report personal attacks against other users, calls for violence, or anything that could be directly dangerous to other users such as pedophile activity. The abuse reporting system on Yahoo Answers is used like a brick to the head by many to censor that which they don't like rather than address it directly with a counter answer..

To refer to anything as "terrorist" besmirches the character of the item being referred to and as such constitutes a slur.
You further contend that your freedom of speech allows you to say whatever you want. You seem to forget that you agreed to certain terms and conditions for use of this site.
Yahoo provides the infrastructure and assumes the costs associated with running this site, and has a few simple rules. If you are unable to follow these rules then you should abstain from using Yahoo.

I once had the bad experience of seeing someone I thought I knew hanging by the neck when it was popular for Jews to be terrorists. It was a cinema news reel
He happened to be a British N.C.O but it could have been any soldier then. What were the army doing?
Stopping the Jews from breaking their own agreement that let them into Palestine in the first place.
In those days the Palestinians helped with what they saw as Jewish persecution and this has been their reward.
We have to remember what has been done against the Jews but not what they have done to us.
May I add British Jews are just as disgusted with Israel and that I would have, and have had, many UK Jews as friends.
It's Politics Politics Politics and of course kick backs.

Somebody took issue with what you said. They were offended by the reference to Israel as a terrorist state. I have said this repeatedly, and anyone who reads the real history of the Middle East conflict will agree, that Isael is a primary cause of all the current problems as well as all the violence over the past several decades. Even David Ben Gurion said that he would never sign a treaty with Israel and the Arabs would be foolish to do so. The violence, aggression, and occupation against the Arab people by the Zionists and the jews since the 1920s speaks volumes, but most people only hear the Israeli version of events. Read the real story and it would clearly justify calling Israel a terroristic, genocidal, racist, occupying state that will stoop to nothing to pursue its goals of destruction against the Arab people.

What the Israelis call "self defense" they call "terrorism" when someone else does exactly the same thing. The US wantonly calls anyone who opposes Israel a "terrorist" and refuses to talk to them. Part of the problems is the careless use of the word "terrorist" to apply to ANYONE who speaks out against Israel. It is interesting that now that the US is finally realizing it can get nowhere in Iraq that it is now reaching out ot the same "terrorists" in Iran and Syria that it had for so long said it would never negotiate.

"One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" has never been more apt.

It offends me. Israel is not a terrorist state. Israelis do not commit terror attacks against anyone. They should in my opinion, however, they have decided to play this war in a non-terrorist manner. The only terrorists are the Muslim Jihadists who use little children to blow themselves up to kill others. Why don't the leaders blow themselves up? Heck, if they do they will immediately go to heaven and be entertained by 72 virgins, among other carnal delights. It is so written in the Quran. Killing and terror is written in the Quran. Israel's laws and religion do not allow for terrorism.

I get violated hourly by the free-speeching libs that stalk my every movement on this board.

As for the question: I don't think of you and your statement as offensive, I just believe it to be utterly wrong.

Last I checked, it was Hammas firing Kassam rockets from Gaza into civilian populated Israeli towns.

To whom the "terrorist" title is appropriately applied is obvious.

If I were to put up a bulletin board & invite people to post notes, pictures, thoughts, etc. I'd have every right, as the owner of the bulletin board, to take down what ever pictures I felt like! If YOU put up a bulletin board, I'd have NO right to go rip stuff off of it! (Unless it was libelous of me, I guess)

This is thier bulletin board. If they don't like your opinion, it is within thier rights to give you a violation notice. Not to say that they were right to do so, just that they have the right to do so.
