,,, orientation from homosexual to heterosexual, are there people out there who are straight and do not enjoy their heterosexuality, so they make efforts in order to change their sexual preference from being attracted to members of the opposite sex toward getting romantically involved with members of the same sex?

I suspect people who are gay and trying to be straight are being influenced by outside influences: a religion, pressure from family, threats on their well being...etc.
If adjusted to, a gay lifestyle is very happy, fun, fulfilling.
Straight people who experiment with homosexuality are called Bisexual, and there are millions of them!
By the way, ""Getting romantically involved with" and having sex with are two totally different things...

I've heard of people being either or bi and trying for asexuality. But not what you proposed. Suppose maybe someone out there has tried though.
