I have been using Kaspersky for over 2 years, it appears to me to be the best. I have used Sophos, Norton, Trend etc.

Kaspersky is a good antivirus yes. But if your just trying it out with a free trail , then its not worth installing it , but if you have already brought it then it definately a good antivirus.

I would recommend AVG Antivirus , since this antivirus uses very similar scanning techniques to Kaspersky except that its a full antivirus for free. I have been using AVG for 3 years now and have been very happy what it has done for me. You can find AVG from the following link.

Kaspersky is the best and you can use it for free. Look at #2 (AOL) below, it is actually Kaspersky renamed.

I have heard of Kaspersky, but have never used it. The one beloware safe to use,

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

AVG Removes I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Here you have some good and free antivirus programs:

And yes, Kaspersky is quite good.

Kaspersky is one of the best. Way better than Norton or Trend. And any anti-virus is better than no anti-virus. Install it.

And a note for "classic" - AVG is great (I use it myself) but the other products you recommend (Spybot etc) are *NOT* anti-virus and are not comparable to Kaspersky or AVG. These other products are anti-spyware. They're very good, but must be used _as well as_ anti-virus, and not instead of anti-virus.
