Stretch it out and relax your knee. Eat a lot of bananas which is rich in potassium. It will help.

Darlin...don't screw around with your knee! If it is that severe go to an orthopaedic doctor immediately. Knees are complicated joints so "quick fixes" are rather rare. Not only is the knee a hinge joint, but it is also weight bearing.
The good news is that new and improved treatments are so much more available. Plus, any good orthopod look for treatments and/or physical therapy before they want to slice and dice.
Your pain and/or injury could be to the patellar tendon as it is below the knee joint. But obviously as good as Yahoo is...my x-ray vision doesn't translate over the internet.
You are looking for an effective medicine, maybe a pain killer with an anti-inflamatory. The most effective ones need a prescription though. Over the counter, maybe an extra strength ibuprofen, might help some.
I'd still find an orthopod doc and find out if you've torn something or injured one of the bones. Pain is natures way to get our attention saying, "HEY! Get help!"
Knee injuries suck and can be complicated. Rest, elevation, anti-inflamatories and an ice regimen (20 min. on 20 min. off...suggested immediately after an injury, not always effective days and weeks after injury) and I wouldn't screw around if the pain is there longer than a few days. Unfortunately I've had lots of experience with injured knees and I'm suggesting you at least get an opinion. I'd hate to see you making it worse by not getting help.
I'm sending you good vibes. Here's to healing!

Pain in the joints could be due to various reasons. Some of the most common reasons are injuries, bursitis, muscle pains, arthritis, overexertion or other diseases.Sometimes, small or large joints on both sides of the body may be affected. Most of the joint pains can be cured but for some types like joint pain, (pain due to osteoarthritis),treatment will only help in reducing the pain. have you been on any long journeys on a bus or plane recently? because DVT starts with killer pain and kills in hours, and can occur in any part of the legs.
if that's not possible just get checked out by a doctor, who would probably refer you to a physiotherapist.
