I live in England and really want another pet. Preferably small to hold in my hand. A friend suggested a crab, but thats just weird. I'd love a snake or a lizard. Or some kind of rodent. eg: rat or chinchilla or something.

What pet would you suggest and know anywhere near Derby , England that i can get him or her, with all the pet stuff.

I'd really like a rabbit but theyre so common, i want an unusual pet.

Any ideas?

thanks.xx

Best of the pets you mention is a rat, they have great little personalities, each one a little different

Hi there well in derby you have pet world at the meteor centre that sell pets like rabbits, guinee pigs hamsters, etc also there is cousins in littleover on blagreaves lane that do the same thing but they also sell snakes spiders turtles, harder pets to get hold of. I had a lizard growing up and it looked nice i just didnt like what you had to feed it. I think you should have a look round and speek to the staff to see what would be best, that way they will tell you which animals mite not suit you.

Hi a pet i can highly recommend is a Parrot i have a Senegal Parrot which i absolutely adore. he calls out Birdie, hello, he plays Pee Po all kinds of lovely things as well as the usual whistles. They can get a bit messy but no worse then a rabbit or the like. But if you can afford it go for an African grey, a great Parrot for mimicking and very tame. hope this helps all the best :)

A pet rat. I have 4 and they are so freaken cool! Maybe get two so they dont get bored, as rats are social creatures. They are easy to train (mine are litter trained) cheap to feed, and just really cute! Boy rats tend to smell a bit more, and are a lot lazier than the girls, but generally both are easy to look after and handle.

HAVE FUN! Good luck!

How about a bird? A different bird. i dont know if you could get a lorrikeet or a cockatiel but birds make wanderful pets and you can teach them to talk as well. I have a lorikeet and he is 2 years old and he is great. They dont take much looking after - you would need to protect yours from the cold but a bird is a great pet. They hop about and are very bright.

Big fat rats are so cute. You might want to get two so they can keep each other company. Chinchillas are nice but very expensive. I know they are about $100 in the US. Reptiles can be annoying with the heat lamps and special food items. I say get a rat!

i have been told rats make excellent pets, my aunts used to follow her around the house, sit on her shoulder etc. I suppose it depends on what other pets you have? Snakes are cool, but you need to research alot about them, as they can grow so big the out grow the accommodation. Good luck

Unusual pets, like exotics pets are no to good for people...couse they get ill when people don´t know how to handle in...
Exotics animals need to be free, they are not prepared to live in houses...they are prepared to live in their houses...
You must to spend lot of money to stay them alive, they need vitamins, calcium, uva, etc....
Try finding , ( if you wanna an exotic one ), a guinea pig....
They are fantastic and very lovely animals....
All you need is giving vegetables, some fruits, and much love...
That´s all I can say !
Cheers and good luck !

I think that a rat would be a really good pet. They are really smart and get an attachment to their owners. You could also teach it tricks and how to use a litter box. Plus thier cute ^.^
