Is Tony Blair's Government a centralised state without local democracy?

Question

Dictates (if they do not come from the EU) now come through Millbank and they are instigated by regional boards, unaccountable quangoes without any local democracy, by national organisations that want to extend their power base (NHS and environmental groups) and American-educated Police chiefs.

TotaLIARIan states tend to fight wars, lock up people without trial (or summarily execute them), suspend habeous corpus, give their friends by bribery (like high density housing that inflates land values). Is it honourable?

Yes (to the no democracy thing), but don't be fooled by the whole party politics thing. This is much bigger and more unpleasant than that. The public all over the world are being lied to all the time about what's really going on. You might not believe me if I tried to tell you so can I just suggest that you do some research? Yes, there's a lot of crap out there, and I'm not even talking about Alistair Campbell and his ilk - they're scum; we owe it to ourselves to find out the truth. The Government, like the police and the armed forces, are supposed to be working for the citizens, not against them. Until we start taking responsibility for our own actions or lack of them, we're unlikely to to find things changing for the better. We have to find ways of promoting and upholding peace and justice around the world, not the legal system(s). Peace may be one of our best weapons.

Just look at the unemployment and homeless figures, the under funded schools and hospitals and the number of people living below the poverty line in this country while they waste money on American wars and owning Two Jags.
