could be one of these problems more than likely its a ignition timing problem...get a timing lite out and give it a check and adjust as needed. if problem still persists then check the air fuel mixture (too much air not enough fuel carb runs out of gas at idle) it is a myth that carbs are preset from factory too work perfect on every vehicle which they might fit. if still persists rejet even a new carb with next size up this will add more fuel. I HOPE THESE SUGGESTIONS HELP.

If your carb and valves are ok how about the cam shaft or timing chain? Check the chain for slack if that don.t prove to be it the consider the camshaft.

It is a 'timing' problem. Either the distributer is off one tooth or the 'timing' has not been set correctly; but more likely the timming gear has jump one tooth becasue of a bad gear and/or chain.

Definately a timing thing. Check the gears, chain, and distributor.

The timeing chain/gears are shot.....to check, pull the dist. cap and turn the crank back and forth..the rotor should move as soon as the crank is turned ....if there is some lag then the chain is worn....
