It certainly could in law. Federation is similar to the EU as far as my reading of it goes. But it would lose far more than it would gain. Irish perspective, by the way, but the yanks are not up yet 1052UT so what the 'eck

Theoretically, yes and no. No, because the Civil War kind of answered that question. On the other hand, Texas was it's own country for a little while after breaking with Mexico and then becoming a US state. I suppose if Texas really wanted to, there is no reason why it couldn't become it's own country from an economic standpoint. It just isn't going to happen.

umm i guess it could technically become its own state.. but if the Mexican population keeps increasing, then you would think it would just become a part of the country that we stole it from in the first place. Possibly the US would get mad about the separation like during the civil war.. -tell Texas it can't go.. and that would give all the racist white people in the US that already don't like Mexicans a reason to kill a mass number of them.

Texas isn't going anywhere. If they try to secede they will get the same treatment as the Confederate States of America did. The rest of the nation will kick Texas ***, and bring em back.

OF COURSE. IT WOULD FIRST NEED A CAUSE. IF THE UNION DOESN'T GIVE IT A REASON TOO, WHY SHOULD IT WANT INDEPENDENCE? UNLESS THE MEXICANS THERE(which are about 58% of Texas now)WANT TO ANNEX IT BACK TO MEXICO LIKE IT WAS BEFORE.(the ironies of life, history repeats itself over and over...)

Why would Texans even bother to secede? They have been controlling the US since Johnson had Kennedy killed. It's all about oil.
