Tim, I am going to treat your question as if it was just a poorly worded one and not attack you for that.

Gay people begin to realize they're gay because they're "turned on" by people of the same gender and seek their company. At first it isn't recognized as sexual, but overtime we begin to realize its a physical attraction and become aroused.

Its not something that happens overnight, nor can you just flip a switch and become gay. Its something that you learn to accept over time. Some of us realize at an early age (for me it was 14) others well into adulthood.

Chances are that most gay people are afraid to come out for fear of upsetting their family and friends, or fear of rejection by their community. This takes time too, to overcome. The good news no one has to be "out" on anyone's schedule but their own.

There are plenty of sites on the internet that can address these issues of "coming out" if anyone is interested to do a search on a search engine like Ask.com or Google

Theres nothing wrong with being gay, and now a days its hard to decifer from the actions of someone who's gay and someone who's straight. There aren't any "symptoms" of being gay so just leave us alone.

By symptoms I think you mean, how do you tell?

It is simple. If you are straight you are attracted exclusively to the opposite sex and are interested in them emotionally and aroused by them sexually. Since you are male that means that when you think about girls you get hard and you want to have sex with them and be with them emotionally and physically.

If you are gay you are attracted exclusively to the same sex and are interested in them emotionally and aroused by them sexually. Since you are male that means that when you think about boys you get hard and you want to have sex with them and be with them emotionally and physically.

The third variation, which you did not ask about, is bisexuality. If you are bi you are attracted emotionally and aroused physically by both genders. You just want to have sex.

Obviously when I say "think about" I don't mean think about having a good game of chess with. I mean think about in a manner that could be arousing.

Now some men can conceal from themselves, by active denial, what they are feeling -- but they know where their attractions are, and eventually, those attractions force their way to the top -- resulting in either the person in question "coming out" -- or starting to live a double life where they have the sex they actually desire secretly and hiding it from other people. That is a sad way to live, better to be oneself, all people are good and should live rich and full lives. Whatever you or someone you know is feeling -- those are what you have within you. I am sure that someone will suggest that gays can change. I stand with the American Medical, Psychological and Psychiatric Associations in saying that the idea of change is false -- and it leads to a lot of (particularly young) people having a lot of emotional pain and sometimes leads them to suicide because they do not realize it is false, and think its just them that can't change. It isn't, it is everyone - gay, straight, or bi (bis do get to choose, but they live with the desire for both their whole life, even after choice) who can't change and need to be happy as they were made.

Each person is wonderful just as they are, and should be loved for who they are.

Now, the other possible interpretation of your question is -- who do you tell SOMEONE ELSE is gay? If that is what you meant. You can't. I know many gay people you could never guess if they didn't let you know, and I know straight people who are very effeminate. Those secondary characteristics, while there may or may not be some statistical relativity between sexuality and their expression -- are by no stretch universally or even generally connected.

So with other people you can only guess -- or if you want to, privately ask.

Email me if you need to talk.

well. there is one thing you can ask yourself, and if you answer yes, then you are probably gay:

do you enjoy the idea of having sex with someone of the same gender?

i hope this question wasn't serious, because if you can't tell what the difference is between gay and straight by the time youre 11 years old, you don't have much of a chance in college, friend.

Do you know the symptoms of being straight? You have to know that first before you can know the ailments of homosexuality. By the looks of things, you are already suffering from such symptoms of heterosexuality. Your level of stupidity has more than skyrocked. It plummeted and crashed! Get your brain looked at before it dies. My guess is that your brain has already stopped responding. You need a reboot, a second good, swift kick in the ***!

There are no "symptoms," because this word specifically refers to indicators of a disease or disorder. Every major medical and mental health organization has affirmed that homosexuality is neither a disease nor a disorder; rather, it is simply a natural variation of the human sexual response. Therefore, there are no "symptoms," and there is no "cure."

Please refer to the sources I have provided for additional information, which include statements from the American Psychological Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Being attracted to men is the only symptom of being gay.
