I love Chicago, and would be living there today if my wife could take the winters.

If you like museums, Chicago is a great place.
- Field Museum - A little old, but still good
- Art Institute - One of the best art museums outside of New York or LA
- Science Museum - A FANTASTIC museum, their German U-boat is worth the trip, even if you are not a science person I recommend it.
- Chicago Historical Society - Displays about Chicago's history

Food - Do some research and EAT in Chicago. Not just 'fancy' restaurants, some of the best food is available from small neighborhood places (Italian Beef Sandwiches...yum!).

Tours - There are a lot of tours in Chicago. Look into them. There is one tour that takes you around to the old 1920's mob locations, like Capone's Hotel. There are also architecture tours and tours of some of Frank Loyd Wright's houses.

There is also music, there are a number of clubs/bars that have live music most nights of the week. And theater, most traveling shows stop in Chicago, and there are several permanent shows worth the ticket (Blue Man, if you haven't seen them).
