I'm certain David Blaine generates money from these spectacles, so no HE isn't loony. But those who gather to gawk at him may be.

Seems to me that what David Blaine does is mental and physical feats of endurance. Why he is categorized as a "magician" I don't know. However, though his stunts may interest some in a sociological aspect, I fail to understand the media interest and attention he receives. Personally I'd just like to see him pull a rabbit out of his hat.

I think he's either a loony or he's a bloke who just will not go and get a 9 to 5 job like the rest of us. Maybe he cant get a job because his CV would read like like a nightmare - past experience : Hung over the Thames for a month, Froze in a block of Ice for days, submersed in water for weeks - nah, he's just a loony xxxxx

Well I could easily argue that he's a few sandwiches short of a picnic but he makes a good showman (or obsessed with self-publicity, depending on your point of view). Shame it's become more about the spectacle and less about the "magic". He seems to have a bit of a Houdini fixation and a near-death wish.

Baffling is'nt it, was he not quoted as saying something like i'm as good as Jesus after he did the 40 days thingy. Still, he does apparently have some sort of fan club, they must be easily fooled.

No, he's not a loony, just misunderstood.
He has a need to be recognised for his abilities, things that no one has done before. He pushes himself to the limits of what the body can take and I think he has proved a lot of people wrong about what the human body will tolerate, i.e. extreams of temperature, starvation, etc. Doctors have said these things are impossible to do, but he's done them and survived, so what does that tell us about doctors?

he's got fame and he's got fortune - I would do the same stuff if I knew it would turn out that way. The difference is I wouldn't do it WITHOUT knowing how it would turn out. That's just stupid, yes.
