I've seen a nature video in which the lion was trying to get the crocodile's food.
The lion looked like it had the advantage.
The lion was walking circles around the crocodile, while swiping at it with its paws, and all the crocodile could do was open its mouth and hiss. The crocodile looked like it had trouble turning around fast enough to keep its mouth pointed at the moving lion, which could easily swipe at the crocodile's tail.
If the crocodile somehow caught the lion by surprise, it might have the advantage against the lion, but that wouldn't be considered a fight, so in a fight, I'd say the lion has the advantage.

There are records of each killing the other. On land, the lion has the edge - it is far more nimble here and can keep out of reach of the croc's jaws, whilst inflicting wounds with its own teeth and claws (these are easily capable of penetrating the croc's scales, despite what some people think). On the other hand, the croc is in its element in water, and the lion is not. Accounts of crocs killing lions always involve the lion either swimming or drinking at the water's edge - crocs hunt by exploding out of the water at animals coming to drink and dragging them into the water to drown. Anything of reasonable size that comes to the water is fair game to this method of attack, lions included.

Sigh. You've been watching stupid non-scientific nature programs.
Crocs are stealth hunters. They wait for their prey to get close, and before the prey knows what is happening they get a grip on the neck. Lion loses. 'Nuff said.
Lions aren't stupid, and would avoid this scenario. One good swipe from their claws would probably kill the croc easily, if it caught it out of the water. Their front is well-defended, but their turning radius is small so a nimble and smarter lion would probably be able to get around or behind the croc and deal some damage.

nile crocodile will win unless the lion gets to his soft underbellie because the rest of him is too tough to penetrate.
