Do the open racists know about his interacial relationship to start with? Are they friends from before he doesn't want to lose and doesn't want to be mocked for this reason? These questions have to be asked. He has to take a definitive stand. If he keeps hanging out with them, he is not worth it.

First of all it is very hard to find a person who is not a racist. Racism is everywhere. Just because someone is racist doesnt mean that you shouldnt talk to them or associate with them. Yes its wrong to be racist and being in an interacial relationship you would think you would feel stronger about these things but the fact of the matter is, it doesnt matter who thinks what about you, your partner, or your relationship. The only thing that matters in a relationship is you and your partner. You can be friends or associate with racist people. Havent you ever seen Shrek? People are like onions, they have several different layers. For a racist, that racist streak is only one layer of them. Maybe the person in an interacial relationship likes somthing else about this "racist" person.

Its kind of like asking why people who are Democrats have friends who are Republicans. Another example, why people who hate cats have friends who are cat lovers. I realize this isn't the same as Racism but hopefully its a good example.

They may not see eye to eye on everything but sometimes friendships happen for the strangest reasons. The person involved may have his/her racist friends but that maybe a topic they do not discuss. They could talk about everything else from the weather to the latest Hollywood gossip but never talk race as they know its a topic they will NEVER agree on.

Hopefully that individual is aware of the feelings of their partner and how they may feel uncomfortable with it.

Because they are fools! If someone loves the person in the relationship, they would have no reason to associate with people that do not like their significant other.

There's also the possibility the person really hates the significant other and they are controlling the other person.

Because their opinion doesn't matter. Live and let live. you can't fight everyone and change their opinions. as long as the racists are not invited home your ok. And if he/she stopped talking to every racist he/she may be very lonely..
