start by jotting down notes, anywhere, anytime. keep them and once a week, once a month, whatever, rewrite the notes onto another sheet of paper to refresh your memory of why you wanted this thought. then at some point (monthly, quarterly) create an outline of the story as the notes fit in. expand as needed, edit out fluff, fill details and connections between them. You'll be surprised at how it seems to write itself. Beware cliches like my last sentence. If you can't think and write at the same time, dictate to someone who can keep up writing as you speak, voice recorders help. my advise, good luck.

there are 2 basic ways:
you get inspired and have a story read in your head(atleast rough outline)
you're good enough at writing that you don't need to think a story,
just sit with pen and paper choose a random subject/theme and words just start flowing.
after getting started 2 things are important:
research
and
your imagination and personal experience.
finally ,
get good listener(s) who can give you meaningful suggestions.
do all this and you're ready for.............the publisher!

i have the same problem, i start all my stories really well and happily, and then when i've written a few pages it just gets boring. try writing down a summary of the story so you never run out of ideas for things to happen...
good luck!

First make an outline. Establish the details of the story..ie. age, people's names, places etc.
Then sit down and write.
Also the more you read the better you will write.
