y r BYTES even numbered?

i noticed this fact from reading my computing textbook
please explain to me

I'm not really sure I understand your question correctly, but computers work using only two digits, 0 and 1 (sometimes referred to as 'off' and 'on', like a light bulb). As a result of that, pretty much everything that happens inside a computer is based on 2 (= even) numbers.
