Someone told me it was something like 70 in the last year. Sounds incredible to me. Of course I know about the big ones, but is there really a huge wave of bombings etc there?

Try the British Embassy in Istanbul.

There are a lot of bombs in Turkey. I've seen one that was written off as a gas explosion because they don't want to damage the tourist trade. Trouble is, it was in a waste bin! But by the following day who would know? Half an hour later I saw another that killed a taxi driver. But how many tourists would know? That's why they cover them up.

It would be very difficult to obtain accurate data. Like most countries they don't give information concerning state terrorism. Some attacks are hushed up because they were carried out by Muslim fanatics who don't want Turkey to join the EU, such attacks which can't be hidden are often attributed to Kurdish separatists.

I can vouch for the accuracy of this sight. I live in Thailand and I can confirm after reading about a terrorist attack in the papers here, and watching on the news, it is listed on this site.

There have been 6400 terrorist attacks since 9-11.
