Because it is the most accessible site to get living cells. Normal skin is dead tissue. Other sites include nasal passages, under your eyelid, vagina, penis shaft.
You could also give blood or seminal fluid, or donate an ovum.
It sure makes a cheek swab a lot more appealing, doesn't it?

we take a cell sample frem our cheek cuz nearly all human cells r alike an check cells r easier 2 get....an if i remember all animal cells r more or less much da same
