We were on the brink of WW3 during the Israeli/Hezbollah conflict but Bush learned real fast that his attempts to get support for attacking Iran were not going to work.
At that point, his approval rating hit an all-time low of 31%.
Hopefully with the Democrats having control of Congress now, in the event of another conflict or terrorist attack, they won't be so quick to give him approval to invade another country.

Why is it so many think the United States will be the country starting WW3. In each world war previous the war was started in Europe and the US only came in after each war had been fighting for many years. In each case the US had an isolationist government that kept us out of the squabbles in Europe that lead to the World Wars.
So on that note, WW3 will only occur if instability strikes such a part of the world that other nations get involved and pick sides. The UN is supposed to be in place to stop this but sadly corruption has hit its ranks as seen by the Oil for Food program. Also the UN failed to act on resolution after resolution against Iraq that eventually led to the invasion. It was also the UN that stopped the first Gulf War from totally taking out Iraq as they where worried about loosing support from the Arab Nations in the coalition at that time. So instead the UN placed sanctions on Iraq and left Saddam in power, and we are now seeing the results of that.
We may see regional conflicts like whats going on in the Middle East or other parts of the world. However, I put more faith in the leaders of the world and hope that they'd find away to stop another World War. So, no I don't think WW3 is around the corner if we can get country's to work together.

We are already fighting a world war with the jihadist elements of the Muslim world. They have struck in the USA, UK, Spain, Germany, Indonesia, and all over the muddled east. While their slick propagandists lull us into a false sense of security and undermine the efforts against them, they work tirelessly to acquire the means to destroy western civilization and bring down the world of the infidels about our ears. The real terror begins when they get their bloodstained hands on some real WMDs.

No, I hate war, I think everyone hates war. As long as Bush maintains his current policies in the Middle East, there is a growing threat of WW3. One ancient Greek philosopher once said that WW3 will start in the Middle East. Let's all hope he was wrong.

good.... because the middle jap area hasnt been in a state of perpetual war or something..... I mean no matter if Iran and Israel and Saudi Arabia did settle on to nuke one yet another into oblivion, no you'll be shocked. people might want to easily shrug and be like "damn i desire they didnt nuke all the oil". If it wasnt for oil, no you may provide 2 sh*ts about the middle East. with somewhat of luck, if nuclear warfare does destroy out contained in the area, all the ridiculous holy internet sites receives incinerated.
