When is the last time you had to defend a friend? What happened?

Just the other day, though not too seriously. I didn't tell the friend I'd defended him, but I think he'd have appreciated it, if he knew.

Last time was when we were in a club. My friend was dancing with a girl and he didn't know the girl had a husband. Husband not boyfriend (she wasn't carrying herself as one devoted to another should so my friend was really giving in to her). The guy, outta nowhere charged my friend (I am 185 lbs, bench 345 lbs and have been taking boxing since I was 13 so I am no punk), Needless to say, I basically had to do what a good friend must. We ended up getting kicked out of the club but my friend appreciated it big time. That's what friends are for....we look out for each other and I believe that "when the right hand washes the left, the left returns the favor."

Not overtly...all my friends are pretty independent. I may utter a comment to support them, but otherwise I let them fight their own battles just as I would want the same respect to handle my affairs on my own.

Nothing happened, really... just stuck up for my co-worker/friend. People talking trash, you know, I cleared it up for them - gently, but ... it shut them up.
