Well white bread has a higher level of sucrose, which is basically sugar. Most people find it sweeter, usually softer (because it has less grain) and generally more traditional in a household. It's a hard shift for the kids when they're told they're not allowed white bread anymore. Believe me, it is. Now it's become a forbidden treasure for me, and I only have it a few times a year, and I love it all the moreso for that. Still, anything for dear old Mum and her poor blood sugar levels.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have no feathers - but I prefer wheat bread.

Neither tickles me. But I prefer white bread. I'm one of those weird folks that can and has grabbed two slices of bread, sat down and started eating.
Wheat bread reminds me of oat meal. I don't dig oat meal so I have to add alot of extras to it so I can eat it...like wheat bread.

Well, I do have feathers, and white bread not only tastes great, but tickles them all the same.

Shouldn't be hard to solve. Bring a couple slices of each to a duck pond or an egg farm and check for reactions from the folks who REALLY know from feathers.
