This depends on each person. I only want/need eight hours. Mrs. Thatcher (and others) famously needed only four hours. I knew a girl who regularly had twenty-two hours. None of these people thought they were getting "too much" sleep. They simply slept the amount they felt they needed.
Without medication and assuming good health, I would think the body naturally wakes when it has had sufficient sleep.

It depends on the needs of your body. Have you seen a doctor for a good checkup? He should do lots of blood work on you.
