I like a little of everything. Some new stuff is just to much about hip hop and rap but the younger generation likes it and so that is fine with me.Doesn't mean I'm going to like listening to everything that comes out or want to listen to it.But I like such a wide range of music that there is room for new and old.

Yes, for studio work.
Some newer bands have hit on a sound or something that makes them good.
The biggest difference is live performances, because the one's that have been around a while, have learned better how to deal with being in the spotlight, with that energy feeding them onstage.
Touring is a skill, and takes a bit of experience to give a live performance. Plus, they know better how to get people to work the crowd to elicit the energies that will best complement the performance.

I totally agree thank you very much! Not to be rude to those who do think that way, but I think it's just ignorant and prejudice, and you are absoulutely right about the fact that there were not so great bands back then just like there are today. To ignore that fact would be pretty naive of someone, especially considering how America is SUPPOSED to be so chocked full of culture. Anyways! I wont go off on that, that wouldnt be very nice of me, I dont want to offend those who think differently, but they might want to wake up a little! You get my point! Smeeell the fresh coffee, get out a little more! lol

here here! music should be judged on quality, not how long the band has been around. There are lots of really great old school bands, and some of the new stuff coming out is pretty awesome. And there is also lots of stuff (old and new) that SUCKS.

it's how the band works and how they click in with the people but I do agree with you. There are many bands who played good before and there are some who play good right now. It's all about their music that left a mark. that's the greatest part...

I like all kinds of music old and new..I didn't know people only liked bands because of one or the other..I always thought you listened to band because you liked the music..nothing more nothing less!

I don't feel that it has anything to do with the band and how good they are.....other than time making things better !!! I love all music..whether it's Pantera,Slayer,Godsmack & Fear Factory.....but I also dig Steve Miller,Bad Company,REO,Journey,
Boston,Aerosmith,Rush,Floyd & Priest. Age has no bearing on music~

that is the point...a quality band producing amazing music...not judging on how long they have been around or not...I agree-but I suppose that could be a very relative question...as music preference is-
