Foxlike dogs:Finnish spitz,Shiba Inu,Pomeranian,Schipperke
Wolflike Dogs:Siberian Husky,Alaskan Malamute,Alaskan Husky
Dogs with both fox and wolf characteristics:American Eskimo,Samoyed,Alaskan Klee Kai(looks like a miniature Husky)
The only ones I think would do well in a warm climate are the Schipperke, the Shiba, the Pom ,the Finnish Spitz and the Klee Kai;the others have such heavy coats, they would suffer from the heat.

Shiba Inu's are probably the closest warm climate tolerant dogs I can think of.

I grew up with wolf hybrids. They are extremely intelligent animals with a stubborn streak. They are not a pet for everyone.
Other than that... I know a ton of Pomeranians that are named Foxy, because their owners claim they look like a fox. I really don't see the resemblance.

Finnish Spitz look very foxy - especially as puppies.

So, I think do Pomeranians - though there is a bit of a difference in size!

The wolf sable version of the Norwegian Buhund may look a little like a wolf:

Although Malamutes are gorgeous great wolf like dogs they are not recommended for warm climates - or for inexperienced dog owners:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malamute
Likewise Siberian Huskies would also prefer a cooler climate - & although they are gorgeous & affectionate they can be stubborn & hard to train.

Husky looks the closest to a wolf or you could just get an actual wolf. yes they can be domesticated, there are breeders out there who already have them that way. A friend of ours has 3. Beautiful animals and are very loyal to him, even play with his cats and never harm them.
