Put simply, if you are looking at buying a Nintendo Wii for no reason other than the graphics, compared to the Xbox 360 and the PS3 you will almost certainly be disappointed.

Nintendo has made a conscious decision to focus less on the core "grunt" of the system and the high end, high definition graphics that are the main selling points for the competitive consoles, and instead are focusing on more "revolutionary" ideas such as their "Wiimote" and its motion sensing abilities.

This is undoubtedly a major risk for Nintendo, and wether or not it will pay off and the Wii will be a success will not be known for some time still. Nintendos view on the subject is summed up best by Nintendo America's President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, when he said: "Here's our take. What's hot is the feel of the game, the look is secondary. What's hot is the next leap, not just a small step. It's hot if it's disruptive, it's not if it's predictable. The future of our industry is inclusion, not exclusion. It's about the heat of emotion, not the chill of technology. We know that the future is right here. Wii and the DS represent the same thing: risk.""

If you are "getting a wii for sure" then you have almost nothing to worry about - once you get into the game you wont even notice the graphics after a while. As for the comment regarding the gamecube, based on the system hardware alone, the Wii is theoretically capable of about twice the graphical power of the gamecube, but it is up to the game developers to take advantage of that.

The graphics for the Wii are not going to be better than the XBox360 or the PS3, but they are going to be better than the Gamecube and every other previous generation console (PS2, XBox). What Nintendo has done is, instead of trying to compete the way that Microsoft and Sony have been (which is how Nintendo failed in the last generation cycle), they've chosen a different approach.

With the XBox360 and PS3 going for ridiculously high prices because of all the processor power required for their graphics and ad-ons, Nintendo made the wise decision to slim down their system so that more people could afford it, while doing something revolutionary with the overall control schema to make their machine interesting. It's a gamble, to be sure, but Nintendo is banking on the fact that the quality of the next generation console is not directly related to how good its graphics are.

Besides, Nintendo is the oldest console manufacturer that is still in the big game. They haven't survived this long by being stupid.

First enable me say: good photos do *no longer* make a solid interest. I nonetheless appreciate the classic Doom on my Xbox 360, which has clunky photos, yet is extreme exciting with distinctive gamers. even with the indisputable fact that to respond to your query: The PS3 and Xbox are the two extreme Definition able consoles, which ability you may get resolutions as much as 1080p. even with the indisputable fact that: you prefer a HD television to take great element on the subject of the consoles photos. additionally remember: maximum HD Televisions are at the instant waiting to output "purely" 720p and 1080i. the two the PS3 and Xbox 360 are virtually comparable on the subject of photos. The Wii is in reality a reasonably changed GameCube and has the least graphical ability of the three. in case you have no longer have been given a HD television you will fairly be conscious a distinction to PS3 or Xbox 360. even with the indisputable fact that the Wii has the finest administration characteristic, which has probable the main promising exciting component jointly as playing video games. As I reported in the previous: good photos do no longer make a solid console. Its in the video games, the place the exciting comes from. So on PS3 you will in the previous each little thing get video games that have been executed in the previous (Ridge Racer returned and so on.) or are obtainable on the Xbox 360. in case you wait - say a 12 months or so, you've a bigger library of PS3 titles that are extra promising than the present lineup. additionally the console will probable have had a cost drop. The Xbox 360 has at the instant the terrific "next Gen" interest lineup and would not fee an arm and a leg to purchase. The Wii has the main helpful ability to make gaming distinctive with video games that are actually not obtainable on any of the different consoles. there is not any unmarried terrific console. It relies upon what video games *you* like. even with the indisputable fact that for the duration of my own opinion: If it must be HD gaming, get an Xbox 360. After a cost drop the PS3 will gt thrilling, too, if extra unique video games for this platform come out. And in case you're uninterested in the present way how video games are performed and are a party animal with acquaintances that appreciate playing video games with you, get the Wii.

There was a news report where they tested the Nintendo against the PS3 with teenagers and the teenagers chose the Nintendo as having the best graphics. Considering the cost difference and the testing I'd say the Nintendo is better.

I haven't seen any still shots of the Wii yet,but if the graphics don't compare to the 360,and PS3 it will spell the end for Nintendo. There last two systems have not met up to everyone else's expectation, and the only sucess they've had over the past 6 years has been their handheld systems, but the PSP took that from them too.

I think Carl the greens keeper is talking absolute garbage.

The nintendo people have already said that the Wii wont have the full on graphics but they will have the new control scheme.

I think the Wii will follow on with the great work that the DS had done and it will be the real next gen system.
