Hah, hah, awsome question!! Made me smile. Ken does not have hair either, or he does, but its plastic. But my perception is that both Ken and Barbie are wearing plastic underpants, to cover their genitals. That was definitely not a femminist intervention, but a moralist intervention (Barbie was after all born in the 50's, when people were still innocent). But this is just my view...Hope you find it insightful.

It represents the strangest question I have seen all day.

If for some bizarre reason you need to psychoanalyze the way our culture uses dolls, go ahead and use that argument. All classes that ask questions like that want long eloquent BS answers that don't even need to make sense. Arguments that make sense get low grades. I am supposed to be psychoanalyzing Alfred Hitchcock movies right now due to a schedule error at my university, so I suppose you could be in a similar, more extreme, situation.

FYI, Barbies breasts have no nipples and she wouldn't look human without an approximation of breasts. Barbie also has no vagina, and neither Ken nor Barbie have anuses. Barbie and Ken represent ideals, and the ideals are not only attractive but also free of sin and desexualized by the Christian paradgim of perfection? GODDAMIT I AM STARTING TO THINK LIKE AN ENGLISH MAJOR. But it would be a fun paper to write! BUT ITS WRONG. BLOW-MOULDED PLASTIC WOULD BE UNSUITABLE FOR MAKING VAGINAS AND TESTICLES. THE DETAILS WOULD"T SHOW RIGHT. ITS WHY BARBIE HAS NO EAR CANAL OR ESOPHAGUS OR NOSTRILS. Wow I feel righteously strange right now...

Barbie doesn't have a vagina. Both Barbie and Ken are without genitals. What does that represent?

I think you're looking to deep into things. Barbie having breasts has to do with the shape of a woman. You can see that women have breasts when you meet them out on the streets, just by seeing the shape of them when they're fully dressed. People's genitals aren't usually visible when they're wearing clothes and those toys are for kids who shouldn't even be thinking about sex yet, so they're not necessary on the dolls.

i guess it's just to put a distinction between the two (Barbie and Ken) . The length of hair cann't do it because even males can sport a long hair...but...if the doll has boobs then one can easily know that it's a barbie. you see both of them have no genitals...so relax and be happy.

Ken and Barbie weren't invented with the help of a feminist; their invention long predated feminism. Whoever informed you feminist women do unlike having intercourse with adult men turn into mendacity to you. of direction, no person with better than one functioning techniques cellular could have faith considered one of those stupid lie.

He's had a sex change, and yes.I called Mattel about this and they told me that in there test market studies, the girls who got the Ken dolls with genitals screamed when they saw it and immediately grabbed scissors and snipped it off. Then ask for some sand paper and smoothed his balls off. They said that Ken was transgender and he did not need it.

Barbie doesn't have any private parts either. it's a detachment of sexuality.

You can tell that women have breasts, but aren't testicles not noticeable when you have clothes on. I wouldn't know, because I'm female, but...

But your interpretation is pretty funny.
