Well if you arent looking for the answer of get a professional then I cant help you. Piercings, especially the face, need to be done right or they face the risk of getting an infection, an infection which would travel directly to your brain. Go to a pro and you 'should' have no worries.

Are you adverse to the answer of seeing a pro because you're not looking for a venue, but a style, or is it because you're underage and rebelling against Mommy and Daddy?
Methinks 'tis the latter.
Otherwise, definitely on just one side, or snakebites. Never in the middle.

see a professional who knows what s/he is doing, or be prepared to see a doctor for a prescription for expen$ive antibiotics to clear up the infection you are sure to give yourself if you try to do it yourself.

go to a pro. if you dont and do it yourself hopefully you do mess up because if you do. and dont want the piercing anymore you might have an awful scar. also doing it your self is a bad idea, there are nerves on your face if you pierce one of them. your face can be paralyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so my best idea is go to a pro.

i did mine on my own 2 summers ago. numb the area with an ice cube, sterilize a safety pin or needle, pokey-pokey!
enjoy yourself, and the hideous scar you'll have for the rest of your life.

go to a piercing website...you have to know where not to pierce. i pierced my own lip and my daughters...it's gonna hurt like hell. if you're determined to do it yourself, you need to be informed on the procedure, and do it correctly and be very sanitary.

hypodermic needle - it's the sharpest and most sterile. really you can use anything sharp enough - sewing needle, safety pin, etc - as long as you sterilize it and clean it after. you should be warned though that do-it-yourself peircings tend to hurt like hell and take a lot of pushing- your body doesn't like having a forgein object shoved through it.
