Yeah, but my kids don't believe me when I tell them about it. They almost freaked out when I told them I didn't watch cartoons everyday all day long on TV. That Saturdays were the main day to watch cartoons, and they were preempted by sports.

Oh yes my dear friend. Since you said that I miss my childhood cartoons so bad like Tom & Jerry, Poppye the Sailer Man, Hackal & Jackel, Pink Panther and last but not least Bugs Bunny.
Todays cartoons are not even close to what the above cartoon were like in my childhood 25 years ago.

Todays cartoons in comparison to Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, Wile E Cayote, Sylvester & Tweetie Pie etc are a pile of horse crap.

Except for a handfull of cartoons....todays cartoons are crap.
in my opinion the good ones are Family Guy,Simpsons,Harvey Birdman,Aqua Teen, and Sealab 2021.

In a way, yes. They are much better technically today, but the stories and characters now seem somewhat lacking. Then too, I don't really watch them much anymore - so I am likely a bad judge - certainly an uninformed one.
