Hey, I've just been offered a job in Barboursville, Virginia.. I was wondering what you know about this town, and also what other state or towns are a great place for an Aussie to go work for a while.. it will be myself and a friend together and we would like to experience a few different parts of America, but we would like a place where people are friendly and where it is most safe.. we would like somewhere that isnt hot in summer and snows in winter... IT Would mean a lot to us if you could share with us Aussie girls what is the best places to go in America.. also if you could tell us about these places a little, like what there like, the people, what are the weather seasons like, snow, rain, flood, storms, tornadoes..etc.. also we are from a small country towns, but we have gone to the cities, but we would prefer the country side of it seeing as were working with horses and that would be our main work choice over there, and what towns are easy for traveling people to get good work.

Michigan!!!!

The Four Seasons are picture perfect. The state is surrounded by fresh water, so recreation activities abound. We are so close to Canada that hanging out there is like just driving to a different city. Plus people are great here, down to earth and friendly.

Every time I travel, I get excited about where I am at, but then I start to compare it back to Michigan. There really is no other state that has the mix of city culture and country culture like Michigan all wrapped up in State with such natural beauty.

Minnesota is definitely a great place. The people here are very friendly. Sometimes a little naive lol but friendly regardless. Minnesota gets the full range of the four seasons. Warm summers (over ten thousand lakes and tons of campgrounds to enjoy those summers at also), crisp autumn with AMAZING nature when the leaves change, frigid winter with tons of snow (great place for ice fishing, ice skating, skiing), and wonderfully colorful springs. We don't get much in the way of flooding or storms (a bit here and there, but nothing major). Another little perk is that it seems that prices are cheaper in Minnesota than they are in a lot of other places. Maybe it's just me and the places I go, but such has been my experience The job opportinities here are great, also. It seems that no matter what your field is, you can work in it here. But it's also a wonderful place to discover new interests that you might not have thought of before. I always thought I'd want a career in architecture and after living in Minnesota so long, I now work in a field where I protect wild bears, it's amazing how much a bit of exploration around here can change your priorities lol. If you do come for awhile, make sure to check out the Mall of America in Burnsville if you're in southern Minnesota or the Vince Schulte Preserve in Orr if you're in northern Minnesota (amazing place to watch wild bears up close). I hope this was somewhat helpful for you. And enjoy your time in America no matter where you go.

This is a site to look up any town in the USA:
http://www.hometownlocator.com/City/Barboursville-Virginia.cfm
I have set it for the town in VA you are asking about.
As an awesome town go check out Colorado Springs, Colorado.
They are a nice town in Colorado that has skiing, snow boarding, great food and a nice family setting to live in. My cousin lived there before being transferred to Virginia and she can not wait to go back, and we all miss visiting her there.
I hope this helps. I put the website below on it's home page. Good Luck.

Barboursville is an unincorporated community in Orange County, Virginia, USA. Barboursville is famous for being the birthplace of the renowned American military commander and President, Zachary Taylor. It is also famous for the location of the home of James Barbour, former colonial era governor of Virginia. The ruins of his home are now on land owned by one of the Piedmont regions more popular wineries, Barboursville Vineyards. The Barbour home was designed by Thomas Jefferson and featured an octagonal room.

I think you should give America a try.

Utah. It has the least amount of humans, no city trash, (humans) and an abundance of wildlife and plains. But beware of the rattlesnakes, and the Mormons.
