This happens repeatedly w/me. If I see an abandoned dog, I take it in and feed it and eventually give them to someone in my family if no one claims them from the flyers I put up.

This dog looks like the one I rescued 5-6 months ago. Maybe a pure bred Rat Terrier and my roommate said he saw him the day before I brought him inside.

This is the 4th time I've sheltered an animal, but this time he's only about 1 y/o and 10 lbs. I can't just put him back outside can I? I can't take him to the shelter bc they will kill him.

What to do?

It's also close to 40 degrees here. He has a collar but no tags.

you have no choice but to keep him for a few days until you can find him a good home. go to a dog park and if anyone says how cute he is, then chime in and tell them that he is adoptable.

good luck! animals need more people like you!

You are really sweet to take the poor thing in, but with that many animals, you really can't take them in permanently.

I hate to say it, but take the animal to the shelter. Death by euthanasia is much quicker and painless than death by starvation and exposure. AND, there's a chance that someone will see the puppy and give it a good home.

I think you could keep the animal for three days and do the flyer thing, then take the animal to the shelter. That would give the poor thing more chances. But, you really can't take care of all the animals in the world. You are doing the best that you can! Don't beat yourself up for it!

Do an internet search (or look in the phone book) for no-kill animal adoption facilities in your area. The Humane Society is your best bet, but there may be more than one place. Also, see if you can find a breed-specific rescue organization (for example, down here we have a Collie rescue) that would take him. And don't forget, he may have a microchip, so make sure that when you drop him off you ask that he be scanned, just in case.

I'm pretty sure your apartment manager would not be happy about you keeping yet another animal. Find someplace safe for him as soon as you can.

reliable interest searching after this canine and making constructive she would not breed and being responsibly attempting to discover her the perfect living house and making a spay contract. the really advice i will make which gained't sound life like on your project, yet would help to get yet another 2 weeks to discover her a sparkling living house. possibly communicate inclusive of your residence manager and clarify your pal has an unaltered male and woman and the female has really come into warmth and your fiend is waiting for the nice and cozy temperature to end to get her spayed. in case you tell ask your apt manager in case you may living house the canine only for 2 weeks so as that this canine gained't develop into pregnant. possibly they'll enable this very temp association. If this doesnt artwork and also you have not the different family individuals or friends that would take her in you may want to provide her to one in all those persons that are already attracted to her. And both a) make a spay contract b)honestly cause them to pay for a spay appointment and educate evidence of the scheduled spay appointment and receipt that it is been paid for or c)you or your pal pay for the spay and make the appointment and characteristic that fee because the re-homing fee and call the vet on that day to be constructive the canine has made it to the appointment. reliable good fortune looking her a house. EDIT I trust a submit above me about making constructive to study to ascertain if she has microchip you may get her scanned at a vet or close by guard.

Look in the phone book for a no kill rescue organization to see if they have room. There are lots of no kill rescues. Also you may want to look at the pets911 website and see if the dog has been reported missing. Hopefully you can find the owners.

hmm a bit tricky one eh..not as simple as it seems, i suggest its more abt a persons inner beliefs and situations than the dog to worry abt his own stuff..but anyways..whn u got animals already jst try adjusting it with others for now and still keep posting flyer as u do...meanwhile u'll find something for him...worst come u can always give it to second hand pets dealer..yes there are doggie rescues tht take care of dogs and dont put them down but actually find them new homes...try locating from ur local pages or soemthing...good luck with tht

Call your local radio station and tell them you found a lost dog. Or put an ad in the newspaper. If he has a collar on, he belongs to someone.
