Go to your local V.A. office. It will be listed in the phone book as Veteran's Administration office. Or in some cases Veteran's Assistance Office. in the government pages of your phone book.
They will have the forms you need to fill out requesting your medical records.

You can also contact Keller Army Hospital on the outside chance they still have your medical records.

If you can not find a Veteran's administration office. Get in touch the your local American Legion Post. And your Local Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post. And if there is one in your area the Local Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America. They will point you in the right direction on where to go if all else fails.

Also check on your DD 214 it might be noted on your DD 214 as well especially if it was the reason for you discharge.

If you can not find your records get in touch with the men in your outfit. Get them to write letters atesting to you being injured on duty. Make sure you get as many Commissioned Officers as you can to atest to the fact you got hurt on duty.

One Commissioned Officer's word means more than a hundred enlisted men's and uncomissioned officers's words.

If you remember the doctors' and nurses' names get in touch with them as well. They might remember you. If they do get them to write letters stating your injuries and treatments.

You will most likely have to go before a board for a hearing. so have as much evidence as you can get to back up your claim.

Good luck: I know you are not a Marine but Semper Fi anyway.
