Sadly, it depends on who you ask... if you ask a Republican they will say they were all Islamic extremists or collateral damage in order to protect American freedom.
Now, any sane person knows that is about the most cowardly answer in history.
And also sadly, the answer to the second part of your question is: no, no one will ever be held accountable.

Of course they all weren't terrorists.
I would say the vast majority of innocent civilians were killed by insurgents though.
Well, the Americans are being blamed for their deaths. Does that make you feel better?
I'm wondering, who should be held accountable, the people who killed them or the people who attempted to free them from living under a tyrant like Saddam Hussein.

In everything I looked at the number of Iraqi civilian deaths since the war started is estimated to be app. 100,000. I am not counting the Iraq military. How many did Saddam MURDER because their religious beliefs did not match his? How many civilians are dying today because of car bombs? That would be still be happening even is the US was not in Iraq. Did you know that in WWII, there were 11,200 US civilian deaths (and we were not even on the fronts)? How about Poland? There were 2,200,000 civilians killed and 3,000,000 Jewish killed? This does not even count their military. I want to see your sources for your numbers. I even went to highly biased sites and could not find the 600,000 number you so freely throw around. Please list your sources and make sure they are valid sources and not propaganda sites.

George WARMONGER Bush should be held responsible for all these deaths. His illegally occupation of our country is in itself a crime. He has committed and is still continuing to do so, crimes against humanity and world peace. I wonder how this terrorist can sleep peacefully when he is murdering Iraqi's by the thousands.

In most places around the world, 600,000 deaths would be reported as genocide. But in the Bush/Cheney world these are acceptable costs for the plunder they have engaged in in Iraq and at the hands of US taxpayers. We have reduced one of the Holiest places in Islam to rubble, the people live without water, hot water, public services of all kinds, no telephones, no hospitals, etc. etc. All because of a big lie spun by Bush and Cheney. "Happy Days Are Here Again..." Do the democrats have the courage to answer this, or will we have to wait for The World Court to act? Time only will tell. Meanwhile Cheney happily spends most of his time living it up in Dubai.

First part of your question - of course not. This is a war and innocent people will die.
Second part: We are doing everything possible to hold the people ultimately responsible for these deaths - and, though you may not agree (which is sad) it is the Islamic terrorists who murder and maim innocent men, women and children to further their demented ideology who are accountable.
