I too have heard that yellow and orange veggies are the best. But, beware of one thing. If your baby consumes ALOT of the orange and yellow veggies they will develop a yellowish cast to their skin. Don't worry this is normal. My little boy was so in love with carrots and sweet potatoes that I didn't think he was ever gonna lose the yellow tint. I freaked out when I first saw it and rushed him to my Dr. He told me that this was normal and not to worry. He said he fields phone calls from frantic mothers everyday on this very topic.
The absolute best advice I got was this... Try to give something to your baby 4 or 5 times. If it is not well received then they genuinely do not like it. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter what veggies they start on or what color they are as long as they get a balanced meal and eat a healthy sized diet for their age. Your instinct will be the best guide throughout the entire parenting process.

I have always started on the green vegetables first. My pediatrician had told me to give veggies first, before fruit, because once they taste the sweetness they'll not want anything else. I would always start with green beans, peas, zucchini, then move in with, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash. In the beginning it'll take some time, 'cuz you only want to introduce a new food maybe like once a week, so that way you can check for food allergies.

My son loved Sweet Potatos. Not real big in Peas. I was told to start with fruit but was afraid that once he got the sweet he wouldn't eat the veggies. Now he eats veggies like a champ.

My pediatrician recommended starting with orange and yellow before green, so I introduced my daughter to sweet potatoes, carrots, and squash (in that order) then green beans, peas, etc.
