I was considering buying Gamecube because one, it is older than the new systems, and two, it is a lot cheaper..

well instead of buying a gamecube buy the ps2 because the graphics and gameplay are a lot better than gamecube. Also ps2 has a lot of games which most of the games are $20-$30

PLENTY of games out there for the GameCube -- and they are re-issuing some of the older ones under the "Classic" series for $20 or less per game.
