Yes, it's part of the US, although the US is a very large country.

yes, because Hawaii is a state of the United States, if you've been there, you can say you've been to America. Just because it is not part of the mainland doesn't mean anything. The same can be said about Alaska.

Hawaii is goverened by the same federal regulations that the other 49 states are and also has electoral votes just as any other US state. For all political purposes, Hawaii is just as much part of the US as any other state.

Technically yes...

However... Hawaii is like a foreign country compared to the mainland. Hawaii is a part of the United States but if you claim that you have been to "America" everyone will assume that you are talking about the mainland U.S.

Visitors to Hawaii from the U.S. mainland. typically begin sentences with the phrase, "Back in the states..." completely forgetting that they are still in "The States" (Hawaii is a state).

About once a month, a U.S. citizen from the mainland will ask if they need a passport to travel from somewhere like California to Hawaii. (You don't) But... Just to mess with them, I always tell them they do.

Yes, you can say that you've visited the USA, but you can't yet say that you've visited the continental US (includes the 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia and Alaska).
A good excuse for another visit to the USA, wouldn't you say?
Might want to check out Alaska, it's suppose to be gorgeous.
Happy traveling!

the united states of america a political entity is not really "america"
america is a continent north and south
you have been to the united states of america
if you went to mexico or arizona etc you could say you have been to america
but then again when people say eg they hate "americans" they usually mean they who live in the united states

...why not just say you've been to hawaii
