I keep hearing that word in "Spongebob Squarepants".... what is it?

the above person said that a crustacean was like a snail. Ignore them, a snail is a mollusc COMPLETELY different.
a Barnacle is from Phylum Arthropoda, Class Maxillopoda, Sub class Cirripedia.

They are enclosed in a shell of calcarious plates. They are sessile (non-moving) as adults. The head is reduced, the abdomen is absent and their thoracic legs are long, many jointed cirri with hairlike setae.
