I had forgotten about King Crimson, I think I still have a vinyl around here somewhere. Peter, Paul and Mary too. Thanks, I didn't know Alice was into bondage though, that was a funny typo by Arlo Guthrie. Did I tell you the time I ran into him at LAX, literally? I was in uniform heading for my plane going back to Southeast Asia. I came around a corner and ran right into him. He looked at me and said,"Peace, man, come back safe." And moved on.

Great question -- what a trip down memory lane!! Thanks.
Most of you have put down the most popular songs, and I think I'm going to copy this page just to have my own list to work off of!! This is great. The below are not all "rock" songs, but they sure were popular in the 60s.
I loved Donovan, especially "Season of the Witch."
And of course, Simon and Garfunkel -- all their songs.
Moody Blues, "Knights in White Satin."
Janis Joplin -- "Summertime," "Ball and Chain," and "Piece of My Heart."
The Fugs
The Kinks: "You Really Got Me"
And adored "White Rabbit" -- Jefferson Airplane
Leonard Cohen -- ALL of his songs, especially "Suzanne."
I loved "Alice's Restaurant" and used to sit through that long album over and over again to hear him talk about "littering."
Thanks for the memories!

I have many favorites (many may not exactly be consider rock songs), but here's a few that may either interest you, or make you think of something else:
Time of the Season - The Zombies
People are Strange - The Doors (any Doors really)
Incense and Peppermint - Strawberry Alarm Clock
Hush - Deep Purple
Anything from The Who
I could go on. If you have Itunes, I suggest checking out their Itunes Essentials area. Under Genres & History. They'll group songs together by era/song type, etc.. They may have stuff listed that you may not have thought of, or something you may not have heard of until now. That's what I do when I'm looking for something in particular, or just looking for something in a certain genre.

I have almost every '60s hit in my CD collection. If you're in a big city or near a large University go to the library and look for this book:
"Pop Singles Annual 1955-1990" by Joel Whitburn now that's my book. These are updated every few years and the title changes to reflect that. There is a current one titled "The Billboard Hot 100 Annual 1955-2005". In fact go here:
http://www.recordresearch.com/
and it's the second book on that page. Look at the sample pages see how it's organized and see if you'd really like to go to the library and pour through it. Of course you can always buy the book. I did!

Loved anything by Conway Twitty especially It's Only Make Believe but that was probably in the late 50s.
