Sorry. It's not possible. You have to have iTunes to sync your music to your iPod.

If you bend your iPod in half and buy a real mp3 player, like one from Creative Labs, Samsung or Sandisk, you'll be able to move your music back and forth without restrictive Digital Rights Management (DRM - also known as the Recording Industry's ability to limit your enjoyment). With almost any of the above players, you can also store your word documents, powerpoint presentations, or whatever computer files with you.
And you can share your music with your friends at school with a non-ipod using a simple USB cable. You just can't do that with an iPod because Apple wanted to corner the .99 cents per song market, and the only way they could do that was to let the Record Companies bend them over for royalties. As a result, NO SHARING/COPYING/BACKUPS ALLOWED.
Joey K, thanks for assuming the poster was illegally downloading music. For all you know, he ripped all of his CDs on his hard-drive and wanted to transfer mp3 files to his player without loading garbage i-tunes software all over his computer. Not every computer user is dying to load the craptastic i-Tunes modules all over their mp3 files to make them .aac compatible, and I doubt highly that anyone here is stealing from you personally. Or are you Lars Ulrich with a different name being a troll?

I could never do it without itunes, but if you dont have itunes you can download it from the website. If your computer doesnt work well with it then you can try a program that converts it to the ipod by usb.

if you mean the store, check google for websites on ipod music and junk. But if you mean by just plain getting the music into the ipod, that's like asking how do you breathe without oxygen.

..... you realize that they're both Apple products, right? iPods don't work without iTunes. You NEED to use iTunes to put your songs on. That's why a disc came with your iPod that told you to install iTunes... duh. And hopefully you're smart enough to realize to use a P2P network to download songs. *cough*Limewire*cough*...
