If you are sucking out the saline drops, don't. This will only make his nose swollen and irritated. Just leave the drops in and let them moisturize his nose. Take him into the bathroom and run the shower really hot and let him breath in all the warm steam for 15 minutes. You can also get a warm vaporizor and put it in his room so he can breath the warm air throughout the night. Do not use Vicks yet because it could irritate the situation. A bit of Benadryl helps, too.
Finally, don't listen to all the other people telling you to get your child to a doctor right away. He is in no danger, and you CAN give a baby this young a bit of Benadryl. If you do not feel comfortable with this, then the warm vaporizor will do wonders.
Babies this young sound worse than they really are due to having very narrow sinus airways. As they grow their airways will grow with them and their breathing will sound better.
Also, DO NOT suck his mucus out with one of those bulbs as this will irritate the passage ways and inflame them and make breathing more difficult.

first i would call you pediatricion, second I would use 3 drops of saline and suction him out before and after he feeds, and before he goes to sleep. use a cool mist humidifier in his room. Is he having fevers, if he is he needs to be seen right away, At THE ER.
Don't wait to see the pediatrician, call them most pediatrician do have a service and would be willing to call you back, he is so young, you don't want to wait
How to suction from his nose. Place 2-3 drops of saline in his nostril, Squeeze the bulb syringe, hold one of his nostrils closed, place the bulb syringe gently into his open nostril, let the bulb syringe open, if there is anything there it will be sucked out, Do the same to the other side. Becarefull Do not Place the syringe all the way up her nose. If your doctor does not call back, I would be seen by another peds doc.
If you notice anytype of wheezing, nasal flaring meaning her nostirls look like they are moving, whezzing or a dry hacky cough
go to the er peds er is best if available at your hospital

I am going through the exact same thing as you are right now with a 6 1/2 month old. I bought a cool mist vaporizor and that has helped a lot at night. Also I bought the "Little Noses" Nasal Saline and that has also helped a lot!!! Put the Saline in the nose and wait a few minuites. Then suck it out with the "sucker". I hope this helps.

You can carefully remove some of the mucous with a Q-tip and/or nasal bulb syringe.
Also, a vaporizer in the room will help keep the air moist and make it easier for him to breathe. You can use either the steam type vaporizer or the cool mist version, but dont put him directly in the vapor cloud.
Keep a close eye on him, keep him warm but not hot, and see the doctor.

Try a humidifier with a small amount of vaporizer (read instructions on the bottle. If you don't have a humidifier, boil water in a large pot and add a small amount of vaporizer according to instructions. Sit the humidifier or pot in a safe place that will allow the steam to humidify the air near the baby.
Hold the baby in a slightly sitting position to allow the mucus to run down rather than accumulate in his nasal passages.

Why are you waiting until Monday?
You could get one of those nasal suction bulbs and suck the mucus out of his nose to help him breath better. You should be getting him to a doctor instead of asking us for advice. He is an infant and as such conditions can change so very fast. Get that baby to the doctor pronto.

Saline drops and a nose sucker. It's a lot of work and doesn't last long but it is imperative that their noses stay clear at that age. Newborns don't really know how to breathe through their mouths, so decrease the chance of suffocation by sucking it out. You can also have him sleep in his bouncer or car seat to help at night.

Pedia Care makes a vapoplug. That seems to work well for my little guy. Or try a cool mist humidifier. You can try (I had NO Luck) proping one end of his crib/ bassinette mattriss (sp) up. I was told to do that for my son when he as small. He just slid to the bottom so I didn't have much luck but you may get a better result

HOT steamy room, that will soften it up and it will leak out.
Warm saline water or Salt water (epson) its gross, yet it works as well.
Warm wet washclothe over eyes and nose, if he will let you, not over mouth.
We use a humidifier and it helps a lot at night.
You can use VIcks on him, just a little dab will do ya, on the tip of his nose and on his chest.

Gerber's Grins & Giggles body products make a nice Menthol baby wash. Wash the baby in this and it should hopefully help the baby breathe a little easier.
