I have The Sims 2 I have wanted it for months and finally got it yet it does not work. i install it and i try to run it and this message pops up, "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. This application will now terminate". I have researched and found many others have this problem too but i found only one person who has solved it and she speaks in computer language, i have no idea what shes talking about, anyway i really would like some help and i know others do too and please don't just tell me to uninstall it install directx9.0c and reinstall the Sims 2 it does not work trust me. I have tried very very hard and I am super frustrated and i really want to play this game!!!

You need a better video card. Go to Best Buy or such and get a $50-100 GeForce or Radeon card.

Your Video card is not good enough to play the sims.

if you have just the original game, or even the expansions, go to the Sims 2 website and get the updates if you haven't already. also if you have already done that, contact them and they will walk you through fixing what is wrong if the updates don't work. i have every Sims game and ALL the expansions, and sometimes this happens, but usually re-installation and applying updates from the site fixes bugs. the site also has a great help section. it may also be that you need to update your directx tothe latest version. the websites below are also very helpful.

have you checked your videocard? too bad u don't mention it. not all videocard is compatible with sims2. try to read the readme file, it usualy writedown the list of compatible vcards.
i guess the problem is not in directx, but in ur hardware. either u must buy a new one or upgrade the vcard driver
