In Ohio legislature just changed so that domestic violence became a much more limited offense. Before if you assaulted anyone you live with or have lived with in the past five years it was a domestic. Now you have to be married or have a child together for it to be domestic. Domestic violence is treated as a VERY serious offense, even in our little town where the court will not convict anyone of anything. The problem with domestic charges is that after a couple of days the complaintant always comes back and wants the charges dropped. The victim refuses to follow through. If there is no victim anymore then it is hard to have a crime so it is hard to get the conviction.

Domestic violence laws are effective unless reported. Usually, people tend to ignore the value of the laws by tolerating the offense to happen and prescribe.

Many western international places incorporate a "separation of powers" into their governance shape. those separations are especially : Legislature, government and judiciary. This ensures that no corporation/guy or lady/branch and so on has undue power. for this reason the police do no longer "make" the concepts, they only placed into consequence the concepts. regulation enforcement might desire to now no longer be above the law, if that they have been, the main appropriate tests and stability are not occuring.

Well alot of women/men will call the police to cool the other down, however back down and not want to press charges. However, I think that people need to become more aware of the issue and find some preventative campaigns to get the "word" out. But to me, I think they should fry the jerk who beats a woman :)
