A Skunk will not spray itself as it can smell the scent it makes just like you but it does not have the gag reflex are the burning effect we and other animals get. The only one that can not or is not bothered by this scent(skunkolene) is the Owl.

No, it just thinks it's in trouble, sprays and gets the heck out of there. Everybody can stand their own f@rt. The question is do the other skunks think it stinks.

Yes they do, this is why they spray each other during a fight. It's very offensive and will chase off any other skunk or animal.

If its brain comprehended the horrendous oder of it like ours does, then i don't think it would ever spray again.
